I’ll Speak Of Life

“All the world is full of suffering. It is also full of overcoming.” – Helen Keller

I’ve known hopelessness,
therefore I’ll speak of hope.
I’ve known loneliness,
therefore I’ll sit by you when you feel alone.
I’ve carried my broken heart in my arms,
therefore I’ll hear your cries.
I’ve walked through the forest of darkness,
therefore I’ll help you to discover your inner light.
I’ve lived with heavy sorrow,
therefore I’ll feel the pain in your soul.
I’ve known helplessness,
therefore I’ll hold your spirit up when you can’t.
I’ve thought of opening the doors of death,
therefore I’ll help you to treasure the gift
of meaning and fulfillment.
And, if you sit for a while
your eyes will slowly open to the breath of life
and you might just realize
how impermanent all sorrows are.
All that once hurt builds our strength.
All that once broke our hearts
might be the journey for healing each other’s scars.
And if you sit for a bit longer,
you might just feel your soul expand and
learn that the wisdom of life is to grow
from innocent to broken to whole again.
