Horizons of Mind

“The loneliest moment in someone’s life is when they are watching their whole world fall apart, and all they can do is stare blankly.” ― F. Scott Fitzgerald

I only have this lonely space
the room without walls,
the depth of emptiness
most fear to feel.
Like a long lost cousin
quiet but also sweet
with a dab of spice.
Together we would ride
to the corners of life,
in silence embracing
the horizons of our mind.
The talkative would wonder
questioning our reason,
we had no answers
for the changing of seasons.
Looking deep
into the essence
of the sea, bathed
in the mist, we would laugh.
Seeing the arching rainbow
in our lonely eyes,
the dimming spark
searching for signs of life,
we had to laugh
or we would drown.
