“Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness.” – Desmond Tutu

The gentle strumming of the old guitar
awakened something deep inside
that seemed untouchable
for a long while.
Suddenly the photograph
began to dance, too,
to the rhythm
of the melancholic tune
as the walls
began to weep and crumble,
even the roof toppled over
with the ground shaking in its roots.
But that’s when the eye of hope
met the broken.
That’s when the soul
found its vulnerable path
and the streaky paint
gradually morphed into
beautiful art.
