1,440 Diamonds

“In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.” – Abraham Lincoln

If you only had one last day
to whom would you give it?
Or would you keep it to yourself
and savor its taste
like a chocolate ice-cream
rolling down your chin?
Would you rather run barefoot
on the endless beach,
climb a cherry tree
or dance in a blooming field?
Would your voice speak peace
or would your heart be heavy
like a suitcase of unopened gifts?

Don’t despair if you haven’t found the key
to the golden clock of time.
One hour has 60 minutes
and one day 24-times more,
so collect all of your 1,440 diamonds
and make them sparkle into the world.
Don’t be a victim be a hero,
let every moment take
your breath away,
share your kisses, share your smiles,
don’t regret, don’t cry.
Travel like a star into the forgiving sky
and shine.
