Naked Like A Leaf

“Time is too slow for those who wait, too swift for those who fear,
too long for those who grieve, too short for those who rejoice,
but for those who love, time is eternity.” – Henry van Dyke

An exotic plant
in the shadow
of the guarding forest;
solitary, so alone,
brilliantly open
with its vibrant shades
of happy and blue,
so interdependent
so transcendent.
As I travel too
this winding trail
I see myself
in its mist-covered petals,
in its membrane,
I feel the rain.
Naked like a leaf
I breathe,
I am.

We wake up each morning not knowing what the day will bring, for life is a flow of energy we cannot see or predict. We must trust in its intent, dance to its rhythm and feel its pulse within, one breath at a time, and make the best of life’s rain, of the sun’s rays.

‘What is time’ and ‘is it really ours’? We don’t possess time, for yesterday is but a memory, tomorrow is a welcome visitor who hasn’t arrived yet, and today is only a temporary gift passing through us in the form of heartbeats.

Perhaps time is only a heartbeat. Without it there is no life, no you and me. Therefore, let’s cultivate our hearts with compassion, kindness and health, because one’s heart is one’s life.
