This Is The Holiday Season

“Love is a fruit in season at all times, and within reach of every hand.” – Mother Teresa

Do we remember the spirit of this time of year? Or did we forget amidst all the advertisement to buy more, bigger, shinier, louder, more expensive, more expansive, more everything? It makes one’s head spin, leaving one in despair.

Perhaps we need to shut down for a moment, turn the noise off, and reconnect. Reconnect with our soul, with our loved ones’ souls, with our pets, with our homes, with our planet, with the land we walk. Perhaps we need to quiet our mind and listen to our heart; look up into the sky and see our dreams, our path to travel. The path of beauty and love.

Perhaps not only this holiday season but all year long or we’re sure to slowly lose our soul.

Happy Holidays, Everybody!

The season’s hungry floods
like a heavy tongue
to tear up our surface
to expose our fears,
our shame.
As we ready for the closing
of the year
we must choose to remember
and to forget.
To forget our mistakes
but remember the lesson.
To forget our hatred
but remember compassion.
For there is no language barrier
for love, flowing
from heart to heart
from land to land
across the ocean
from humans to canine
to whales to insect
to the playful fingers
of ancient trees
to brush through our hair.
Will we survive these
rushing winds?
Will we celebrate the passing days?
We must ask our souls
if all that we chase
will feed the empty hole.
Will we remember to enjoy the song
or will we forget?
