Giving Thanks

“I am grateful for what I am and have. My thanksgiving is perpetual.” – Henry David Thoreau

Although I don’t believe in dedicating only one day per year to be thankful as every day is a gift to appreciate. Nevertheless, this is a beautiful time of expressing gratitude for all our blessings, all the kind people in our lives who love and inspire us, all that is good in our lives, and even the occasional bad things and challenges as they made us who we are today. If they didn’t break us they most likely strengthened us and taught us about our inner selves.

My hope is that we won’t make this day about the turkey, stuffing and shopping but instead embrace it as an opportunity to reflect. Reaching deep into our hearts and with gratitude express our thanks for being able to be our unique selves, for being free and having air to breathe. Whether we have a lot or little as long as we are alive we have much to be thankful for.
